The Rev. Patricia Anne Banks has been certified in piano and theory through the Music Teachers' National Association since 1996.

Celebrating more than three decades in academia, The Rev. Banks retired as an associate professor of music and the founder and director of the music computer laboratory at Howard Payne University School of Music in 2007. Aligned with the university for more than 16 years, she originally founded and directed the precollege music department on campus between 1991 and 2000. A former teaching fellow and an adjunct professor of music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, The Rev. Banks likewise taught piano, music theory and music history at Banks Piano Studio in Fort Worth for nearly 20 years between 1975 and 1992, and was a workshop clinician at the Van Cliburn Piano Institute in Fort Worth during 1994.

Among her numerous religious and community initiatives, The Rev. Banks has served as a Deacon at St. John's Episcopal Church in Brownwood, and at Holy Trinity Church in Eastland. She worked as a Hospice Chaplain for 10 years and a volunteer Chaplain at Brownwood Regional Hospital for 17 years. Among her professional memberships, The Rev. Banks is a member of the Music Teachers Association, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the Texas Federation of Music Clubs and the American College of Musicians. She is also a past president of the Heart of Texas Music Teachers Association and the Fort Worth Music Teachers Association, and was Vice President for Student Affairs of the TMTA.

Upon going to college, she decided to pursue a degree in music, acquiring a Bachelor of Science at the University of North Texas in 1966, followed by a Master of Music and all but her dissertation at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1976 and 1981, respectively. The Rev. Banks also studied at the Anglican School of Theology between 2000 and 2004 and became ordained as a liturgical deacon through the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth in 2002. She has been certified in piano and theory through the Music Teachers' National Association since 1996. The recipient of a Teacher of the Year Award from Texas Music Teachers Association in 1996, The Rev. Banks is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
