SPRINGFIELD, OR, January 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ronald Lee Heninger, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Heninger celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An expert in soil compaction and Douglas fir growth, Dr. Heninger worked for Weyenhaeuser Company for 35 years, an organization which was founded in 1900 and has since become one of the largest sustainable forest product companies of the world. Hired as a scientist in Centralia, Washington, in 1974, he subsequently took on roles of ascending responsibility in both Centralia and Klamath Falls between 1976 and 1982, as well as in Springfield. Transitioning into management, Dr. Heninger oversaw the field research station while also serving as a senior scientist for another 20 years, until 2009. Additionally, Dr. Heninger contributed for one year as a forester for Michigan Department of Highways in Lansing and as an instructor at Michigan State University between 1973 and 1974.

A seasoned scientist, Dr. Heninger is proud of the research that he has conducted on soil compaction and the effects on tree growth, which proved the erroneous nature of previous literature. There were also several state laws in Oregon on forestry practices that limited the amount of machinery that they could have on a piece of ground in order to protect the soil, which were also proven wrong. Becoming a national issue, the National Forest Service had to conduct a study to either prove or disprove the negative or positive impacts of soil compaction. Dr. Heninger was afforded the opportunity to serve as the reviewer of the study, proving that his research was correct. As a result of his years of research, Dr. Heninger has contributed multiple articles to scholarly journals, including in Forest Science and the Canadian Journal of Forestry Research.

Devoting a substantial amount of time to the Boy Scouts of America, Dr. Heninger first joined the organization as a young boy. He later aspired to teach other young men about the many wonders of the outdoors and became a scout master, first in East Lansing and later in Springfield. He was a scoutmaster for a total of 12 years between 1970 and 1996. Dr. Heninger also served on many committees in both the United Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. An alumnus of Michigan Technical University, Dr. Heninger received a Bachelor of Science in 1968, a Master of Science in 1969 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1973.

Active within many professional societies, Dr. Heninger is a member of the soils working group of the Society of American Foresters since 1999. Moreover, he is a past president of the Northwest Forest Soils Council and a member of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America and the Western Forestry and Conservation Association. Named Researcher of the Year by the Oregon Society of in 1996, Dr. Heninger is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in the first edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
