J. Robert Hall is a beverage company executive with more than 40 years of experience in the food and beverage industry. In preparation for his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in natural sciences at the University of Oxford in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. Mr. Hall has also been a member of the public boards of Glatfelter since 2002 and Ault Foods in Canada from 1994 to 1977, and has sat on the boards of private organizations such as Wise Foods, Taco Bueno, Castro Cheese, Yucatan Foods and Frozen Specialties.
While attending college, Mr. Hall decided that he wanted to have an impact on the world. Although he was studying science and mathematics, he aspired to lead a business that focused on serving the needs of consumers, and decided the best way to the top in such an organization was through marketing.
After short stints working at Procter & Gamble during his college years, in 1976 Mr. Hall began his career in ernest with Nestle as a brand assistant in White Plains, New York. He rose to the rank of a product manager in 1977, a group product manager in 1981 and a business director from 1983 to 1985. In 1985, he moved to serve as the director of strategic planning and business development for Kraft Ltd. in Montreal, and went on to act as Kraft's vice president for cheese products until 1989. Mr. Hal1 excel1ed as a vice president and business unit manager of Kraft General Foods in Toronto between 1989 and 1992, and became the vice president of cheese strategy for the United States market in 1992.
From 1992 to 1993, Mr. Hall continued his career as the president of Christie Brown and Co. in Toronto and as the president of the Nabisco Specialty Products Company in New Jersey between 1993 and 1995. He was the president of Lenox Brands from 1996 until 1998 and the chief executive officer of Ardale Enterprises of Mendham, New Jersey, from 1998 to 2013. Mr. Hal1 maintained activity as an operating executive of Pal1adium Equity Partners and a senior adviser and managing director of Centerview Capital between 20I4 and 2016, and finally has been the chief executive officer of Ole Smoky Distillery since 2016. He is further a member of the board of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
Mr. Hall has been blessed with numerous important moments throughout his life, including marrying his wife, Elizabeth Hall, in 1979. She has always supported him, and together, they have raised three wonderful children-Emma, Alistair and Duncan. Mr. Hall believes in adding value to both other people and organizations and providing a good environment for people to thrive and develop. He is fortunate to be the chief executive officer of the leading craft distillery in the United States, as well as the most-visited distillery in the world.
