Connecting CPAs with local elected officials

ATLANTA, GA, February 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Members of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA) gathered at the state Capitol on Jan. 29 to advocate for the accounting profession.

CPAs are uniquely qualified to provide Georgia's legislators with insight into the issues facing the accounting profession, the business community and the general public," GSCPA CEO Boyd Search said.

Attendees were provided updates on current legislative issues by CPAs from the Georgia General Assembly including Rep. Carson and Rep. Wilkerson. Afterward, John W. Johnson, director of legislative and governmental affairs for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy spoke to GSCPA on ways to advocate to protect the Certified Public Accountant Licensure.

The group moved over to the steps inside the capitol to take a photo with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. In the afternoon, GSCPA leadership and members attended one-on-one meetings with their representatives and senators—Senator Chuck Hufstetler, Senator Lindsey Tippins, Senator Brandon Beach, Senator Matt Brass, Representative David Knight, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan.
