"Once a woman is rescued, people just kind of put a bandage on it or pigeonhole her in a substance and alcohol abuse rehab or some sort of other shelter." --Alicia Bush, Treasured Vessels Foundation
DALLAS, TX, February 06, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Treasured Vessels Foundation was created to provide trauma-informed, individualized care that is essential in the healing and recovery process for survivors of domestic sex trafficking. Their home will have room for up to 8 individuals, ages 18-24 years old. "Once a woman is rescued, people just kind of put a bandage on it or pigeonhole her in a substance and alcohol abuse rehab or some sort of other shelter. We really don't have enough specific solutions for an exploited and trafficked woman. We are going to do this right. We are going to do this together as a community," says Alicia Bush, Founder and CEO of Treasured Vessels Foundation.
Human sex trafficking accounts for over 314,000 victims in the state of Texas alone every year with includes 79,000 minor and youth victims of this horrific tragedy. Texas is the second highest in the nation for number of calls to the National Human Trafficking Resources Center. Treasured Vessels Foundation is privileged to provide one of the only long-term solutions for survivors of domestic sex trafficking in North Texas, which include counties Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and Grayson.
On Friday, February 7, 2020, at 12 p.m., Treasured Vessels Foundation (TVF) will celebrate the completion of their first residential community for survivors of domestic sex trafficking with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony presented by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. About Treasured Vessels Foundation:
Treasured Vessels Foundation was founded in 2016 by Alicia Bush after she discovered the lack of long-term placement for sex trafficking survivors. They are active members in the C7 Coalition, North Texas Coalition Against Sex Trafficking, C3ST, Youth Homelessness Committee, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Plano Chamber of Commerce, White House Faith Leaders, and the CEO Non-Profit Council. The program includes treatment plans, educational support, life skill support, and other therapies such as equine, yoga, gardening, art and music.
