Think Profits Inc. Participating in Sleep Out Professionals Edition

Local professionals come together to help homeless youth and experience a night of sleeping on the street

VANCOUVER, BC, February 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Covenant House is once again running its Sleep Out event. The Think Profits team is participating to raise funds for homeless youth in Vancouver, and we need your help.

In order to increase awareness and to deepen our own understanding of the homeless experience, we'll be sleeping on the street for one night on February 20th.

Here's how it works: professionals from all over the lower mainland raise money for Covenant House in order to participate in Sleep Out. Then, on February 20th, they all come together to sleep outside in the heart of downtown Vancouver with just a sleeping bag and some cardboard to provide comfort--which is a lot more than many homeless youth have.

The aim is to bring awareness to the prevalent homelessness problem in Vancouver by taking to the streets for a night, and for participants--working professionals who all have the privilege of a comfortable, warm home to sleep in every night--to gain a more profound understanding of what it means not to have a roof over your head.

Where the Money Goes

All money raised for Sleep Out Vancouver goes to Covenant House, a Vancouver-based charity organization that provides assistance to local homeless youth. Covenant House runs crisis programs, community support services, employment training, and provides access to food, shelter, healthcare, and addictions and mental health resources.

Here is what your donation can do:

$10 provides a youth with 3 nutritious meals for one day.

$50 provides drop-in access for one homeless youth to all services in the Drop-In Centre.

$70 gives three nutritious meals for one youth in the Crisis Program every day for one week.

$100 allows Outreach Workers to connect with one youth on the street and introduce them to Covenant House programs and services.

$250 offers one youth 24-hour Crisis Care in the residential Crisis Program for one day.

$500 provides drop-in access for 10 homeless youth to all services in the Drop-In Centre.

$1,000 allows Outreach Workers to connect with 10 youth on the street.

Homeless Youth in Our City

Every night in Vancouver there are anywhere between 500 to 1000 young people sleeping on the street. Many of these people are struggling with addiction, trauma, mental health issues, or all of these. In order to help these young people, it is essential to give them access to mental health resources, addiction services, shelter, food, and healthcare. Covenant House provides homeless youth with transitional and permanent housing as well as access to essential resources and services.

Your donation makes a huge difference. Help us reach our fundraising goal of $12,000.
