SUMMERVILLE, SC, February 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ms. Whitney with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Whitney celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With many years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Whitney has enjoyed a successful career in the nursing industry. In 1951, she graduated from Lexington, MA, High School and one year later, she attended the Modern School of Fashion and Design in Boston, where she studied fashion merchandising. In 1953, she worked in the Grover Cronin Department Store in Waltham, MA. There, she worked in sales and completed executive training courses. She subsequently graduated from the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1957 after three years of coursework.

Upon entering the field, Ms. Whitney was a full-time RN at the Boston Lying In Hospital. While working full time, she attended the Boston University School of Nursing part-time during the evenings in an effort to turn her RN into a BSRN.

In church one Sunday, a MD from NE Medical Centre (Tufts) recognized Ms. Whitney as a former student and offered her a Monday through Friday job in the pediatric OR at Boston Floating Hospital (The pediatric branch of NE Medical Centre). While working in the OR there, she experienced many innovative cases and advances. Similarly, while at Mass General doing special duty, she was involved with many critical cases like baby kidney transplant cases, major heart surgeries, and accident cases.

When Ms. Whitney's son started school, she moved out of the city to the Ashland Framingham Area and worked in both the OR and ICU at Framingham Union Hospital. After remarrying and having another child, she helped open an Alcohol Detox Centre ordered by the state. She went back to working evenings at the detox until she went to work at the state hospital deinstitutionalization program. After her husband died, she moved to South Carolina in 1980.

From 1981 to 1982, Ms. Whitney worked at Trident Medical in ICU. Then, she left to go to a new psychiatric hospital where she worked in the psych ICU. After several years, she left to help open a new psych program at St. Francis Hospital where she remained until her retirement in 2004. She worked as a charge nurse and for many years ran the outpatient psych program. She also earned her master's degrees. Currently, she does volunteer work as a Compassionate Care Coordinator for her church.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Whitney has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
