Having accrued well over 40 years in the field of nursing, Ms. Hollinquest retired from her full time duties in 2011. She had served as a registered nurse at the Hubert Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center, a clinic specializing in treatment for low income patients, since 2009. Concurrently, Ms. Hollinquest provided her skills as a nurse within the prison system of Delano.
Prior to her later career accomplishments, Ms. Hollinquest worked for over 20 years at her local Veterans Affairs Hospital between 1986 and 2009, during which she garnered a laudable reputation for her expert care and compassion. Other positions to her credit include her affiliation as a licensed nurse with Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital from 1969 until 1986, and as a nurse's aide at a conservation home in Santa Monica in 1967. Throughout this period, Ms. Hollinquest developed her areas of expertise in the realms of oncology and intensive care and, in particular, devised a set of instructions for patients to follow in preparation for their colonoscopy exams. This method was swiftly adapted by other Veterans Affairs hospitals, and saw her recognized with a special achievement award.
Throughout Ms. Hollinquest's career path, she worked extensively to expand upon her professional qualifications. To wit, she became a registered nurse via Santa Monica College in 1986, and attained a Bachelor of Science in nursing through the University of Phoenix two decades later in 2005. In addition to previously mentioned procedures, Ms. Hollinquest has been certified to work in diabetic treatment, wound treatment, telemetry monitoring, intravenous therapy and orthopedics.
A lifetime alumnus of the University of Phoenix, Ms. Hollinquest has likewise been a member of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates. She attributes her outstanding accomplishments to her caring personality; it has always been a goal of hers to help others, for which she has been richly rewarded with both advancement in her field and the simple appreciation of her patients. Though she is retired, Ms. Hollinquest aspires to continue volunteering her service in senior living facilities, and travel more extensively. In particular, she is grateful to have more time to indulge in her favorite pastimes, particularly reading mystery novels, gardening and cooking creative, healthy dishes.
