ARC Canada Joins the Atlantic Clean Energy Alliance (ACEA) & New Brunswick Takes Center Stage at CNA 2020 Summit

SAINT JOHN, NB, February 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Climate change continues to be a priority in New Brunswick and the Atlantic region with the launch of the Atlantic Clean Energy Alliance (ACEA). This Alliance is being led by the Atlantica Centre for Energy which is dedicated to increasing energy literacy for community leaders and stakeholders.

ARC Nuclear Canada, Inc. (ARC Canada) President & CEO, Norman JD Sawyer fully supports this local alliance for the Atlantic region as it promotes sustainable and reliable solutions to reducing emissions. "With headquarters in New Brunswick, it is important for our company to be an active participant in this newly formed Atlantic Clean Energy Alliance (ACEA). As we continue to inform our key stakeholders, there is now a general acceptance that the ARC Canada technology is poised to provide clean baseload energy to partner with intermittent energy sources such as wind and solar, while dealing with waste." Mr. Sawyer continues, "The federal mandate is clear that an inclusive Pan- Canadian nuclear industry is essential to our future energy requirements and New Brunswick continues to show leadership by working with other provinces and supporting local coalitions such as the Atlantic Clean Energy Alliance."

Currently, ARC Canada is working with NB Power and the Government of New Brunswick in bringing a proven solution to market to meet the demands of emission targets in the Atlantic region, as well as providing a significant economic opportunity to New Brunswick. The integration and inclusivity of New Brunswick in the nuclear landscape will result in a sustainable manufacturing supply chain for the province, a vision that ARC Canada has firmly stood behind.

After the recent completion of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Phase 1 Vendor Design Review in October, ARC Canada continues to lay the foundation for its proven advanced small modular reactor technology for which the government of New Brunswick affirmed its ultimate build at the Point Lepreau Generating Station. "Our proven technology is inherently safe and emission free," states Mr. Sawyer, "it operates with essentially no pressure, naturally controls its power without human intervention and is two orders of magnitude safer than current Canadian designs, which already adheres to the highest safety standards. In addition, the fuel cycle is reduced to every 20-years rather than several times a week, as is the case with the current Canadian design. The fuel is then reconstituted for another 20-year cycle making our technology a game changer as it deals with the issue of waste."

The launch of the ACEA leads into the Canadian Nuclear Association's (CNA) 2020 summit which will occur on February 26th in Ottawa where ARC Canada will be featured on the national stage for its progress on its advanced small modular reactor technology.

ARC Canada will participate on numerous panel discussions in an afternoon dedicated solely on SMR progress in New Brunswick. "The CNA 2020 Ottawa summit has allotted an afternoon focused solely on New Brunswick SMR progress. I am honored to be a guest panelist at this sold out event. There's a momentum in the energy sector and the time is now for the nuclear industry to act and ARC Canada is on the forefront of making that happen."

ARC Canada will participate in the ACEA press conference on Monday, February 24th at 1pm in the McAvity Meeting Room Delta by Marriot in Saint John, New Brunswick. On February 26th, ARC Canada will participate the Canadian Nuclear Association 2020 Summit in Ottawa, Ontario.
