NEW YORK, NY, March 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pedro R. Moreno has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Triple board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology, Dr. Moreno is a world-renowned expert in atherosclerosis. Prior to embarking upon his professional path, he earned a Doctor of Medicine in internal medicine from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogota, Colombia. Dr. Moreno has completed additional training from the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

For 10 years, Dr. Moreno has found success a professor of medicine and cardiology and the director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, which he cites as his greatest career achievement. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he has obtained several recognitions, including the Young Investigator Award and the Senior Investigator Award from the Vulnerable Plaque Organization. He also received the Excellence Award from the Colombian Society of Cardiology and the Double Starr Award from the New York State Department of Health. Additionally, he was recognized as a Top Doctor in the New York Metropolitan Area in 2014. Dr. Moreno attributes his success to his hard work and dedication, as well as the influence of his mentor, Valentin Fustera.

A pioneer in the understanding of inflammation and acute coronary syndromes, Dr. Pedro R. Moreno performs more than 1,000 cardiac coronary invasive procedures annually with a 99 percent success rate. He has also contributed to vascular biologic aspects of restenosis, a re-narrowing process that occurs in coronary or peripheral arteries after stenting, and has additional extensive experimental research in novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for vulnerable plaques, the most common cause of a heart attack. In the United States, Dr. Moreno's ability to speak Spanish to patients has greatly impacted his ability to help patients of many different backgrounds.

Hailing from a family of lauded physicians, Dr. Moreno was inspired by understanding the path of physiology.

Being surrounded by Nobel prizes and real pioneers that created a pathway for treatment, he has always known that he wanted to follow the same direction. Dr. Moreno was further motivated by his uncle, the dean at Harvard University and a cardiologist who provided him with the support necessary to conduct research at Harvard.

Dr. Moreno also serves as an advisory to several government agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States and the National Cardiovascular Center in Spain. Likewise, he is an official reviewer for the American Heart Association and several scientific journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, Circulation and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the American Journal of Cardiology, the American Heart Journal and the European Heart Journal. Moreover, Dr. Moreno is honorary member of such international cardiology organizations as the Chilean Society of Cardiology, the Venezuelan Society of Cardiology, the Colombian Society of Cardiology and the Dominican Republic Society of Cardiology.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Moreno would like to maintain his involvement in academic medicine but he would like to contribute to health organizations on a much broader scale. Already working with the underserved areas of New York City, he desires to do more for the city's most in-need residents. Essentially, Dr. Moreno would like to reproduce a supernatural and spiritual experience of providing health to alleviate suffering and change the lives of patients.
