Karel Ann Orlowski, MS, BA, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Orlowski has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of music education

NEW YORK, NY, March 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Karel Ann Orlowski with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Orlowski celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now retired from a successful career in education, Ms. Orlowski concluded her career in 2005 as a teacher of vocal music at Patchogue-Medford Schools in New York after more than 30 years in the district. During her tenure, she also excelled as the lead teacher of the music department between 1986 and 1988 and from 1991 until 1994, respectively. Some of her other noteworthy roles included serving as the director of the drama department at River Elementary School in Patchogue from 1974 to 1990 and as the director of musicals at Eagle Elementary School from 1990 to 2005. Additionally, Ms. Orlowski oversaw several show choirs in South Ocean Middle School, Eagle Elementary School and Barton Elementary School, which involves performance groups that combine choral singing with choreographed movement or dance.

Inspired by her father, a former public school educator who was a band, orchestra, and vocal teacher in Middletown, Ohio and then a middle- and high school vocal director in Fremont, Ohio, Ms. Orlowski became interested in music education. While in high school, she auditioned for and was accepted to the mid-west based Musical Youth International high school organization as a member of both the band and the chorus. The group toured Northern Europe, performing concerts and participating in music festivals.

Ms. Orlowski was accepted to the University of Michigan School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. While at the university, she was a member of the Chamber Choir, which was invited to be the resident opera chorus for the 1969 Spoleto Music Festival in Spoleto, Italy. In the spring of 1971, the Chamber Choir was selected by the United States government to be one of three artistic groups to tour the U.S.S.R. in the official government cultural exchange program. While there, they performed in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Odessa and other cities approved by both governments.

In her professional career, Ms. Orlowski was a member of the Suffolk County Music Educators' Association. As such, she was a co-chairman of the South Division I Chorus and the Southwest Division I Chorus, was the Assistant Vice President for Division I Festivals, and the Executive Vice President for Festivals. Her extra-professional accomplishments include being a founding member and vocal director of F.O.T.A. (Friends of the Arts), a group of music and other educators in the Patchogue-Medford District dedicated to presenting Renaissance arts to the public. F.O.T.A. sponsored, coordinated, and performed Renaissance feasts complete with period costumes, cuisine, music and entertainments.

Honored for her work, she was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame at Fremont High School alongside her father. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Orlowski has been included in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.
