Renowned for his work as a biomedical researcher, Dr. Kosoy is currently the Founder and Supervisory Research Biologist of the KB One Health LLC, located in Fort Collins, Colorado since 2018. He formerly excelled for _25 years with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, serving as a research fellow and research biologist between 1994 and 2007, and as the Chief of Laboratory of Bartonella, Rodent-borne, and Wildlife Diseases in the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases of the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases from 2007 to 2019. Previously, Dr. Kosoy worked in Russia for nearly 15 years as a research biologist and in several supervisory roles for the Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology at the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Far-Eastern Laboratory of Epizootiology and Ecological Pathology of Animals in Vladivostok.

Dr. Kosoy has extensively studied ecology and the emergence of zoonotic and vector-borne infectious diseases throughout his career, with interests in ecology of diseases, the evolution of pathogens, anthropology of zoonoses, and theoretical biology. His research interests also include science of complexity, biocybernetics, biosemiotics, and multidisciplinary knowledge.

Dr. Kosoy was the Principle Investigator for numerous research projects in America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. His international activities included, but not limited to P.R. China, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Georgia (Caucasus), Azerbaijan, Japan, Israel, Russia, Kosovo, Kenya, D.R. Congo, Peru, and Guatemala.

A prolific author, Dr. Kosoy has authored and co-authored over 180 scholarly articles since 1982. His publication score is higher than 97.5% of all ResearchGate members' scores. He has contributed as a reviewer for multiple professional journals and has been an editorial board member for Applied and Environmental Microbiology and Integrative Zoology. Moreover, he has authored numerous conference papers in microbiology and has led many scientific presentations.

During his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kosoy became interested in diseases transmitted by animals and tropical diseases. After acquiring a bachelor's degree in biology, he pursued an education at Mechnikov Odessa State University in Ukraine, graduating with a Master of Science in Biology in 1978. Continuing his academic efforts at the Gamaleya Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, Russia, he subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology and Biology in 1987. Maintaining his alignment with a number of industry-related organizations, Dr. Kosoy is a past president of the International Conference on Diseases in Nature Communicable to Man, as well as a member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and several other professional societies.

In recognition of his noteworthy accomplishments, Dr. Kosoy received several accolades, including the Award for Distinguished Service from the Secretary of Health and Human Services in 2003. In 1996, he was honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with the Secretary's Award for his team's work in response to the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; Award of the Secretary of Health and Human Services for Distinguished Service for Tularemia Response Working Group effort to define and limit the spread of potentially dangerous bioterrorism pathogens through large-scale sale of ill exotic pets, and his scientific publication was nominated for the Charles C. Shepard Science Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Kosoy has also been featured in the 58th and 59th editions of Who's Who in America.
