SOUTHBOROUGH, MA, April 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alan J. McDonald with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. McDonald celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having earned distinction as the founder and manager of McDonald Lamond Canzoneri since 1994, Mr. McDonald has garnered a laudable reputation as a highly regarded and sought-after attorney for more than 45 years. Focusing his practice on labor law, specifically with labor unions in all aspects of union affairs, his firm is comprised of a dozen experienced attorneys who specialize in collective bargaining negotiations, arbitration, court and labor agency litigation, workers' compensation and other related areas. With extensive expertise in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, Mr. McDonald is grateful for the opportunity on a daily basis to help working men and women improve important terms and conditions of their employment, and to achieve work place justice. He has represented clients before the National Labor Relations Board and the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations and has handled myriad cases in the Massachusetts Superior Courts, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. IN 2004, he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Legal researchers will find his name prominently noted as counsel on a litany of important legal cases handled by him over each decade of his career.

Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. McDonald excelled as a partner at McDonald and Associates in Southborough, McDonald, Noonan and Lamond (and Predecessors) in Newton, Massachusetts, and Grady and McDonald in Boston. He began his labor practice as an associate attorney at Grady and Kaplan in Boston. Additionally, Mr. McDonald has served as an adjunct faculty member at the New England School of Law where he taught an advanced labor law course for a number of years, and is a sought after speaker in panels and seminars hosted by a wide variety of arbitration and mediation and other labor related agencies. He has also contributed articles to authoritative labor resource periodicals and journals.

An alumnus of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York, Mr. McDonald received a Bachelor of Arts in 1968. He subsequently attended Boston College, acquiring a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1973. After law school he served in the United States Army Reserves from 1969 until 1975, when he was honorably discharged.

While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. McDonald spent his summers working at a paper mill in Lyons Falls, New York. One year, union workers had walked off the job and began striking after the mill had demanded that they work excessive over-time, often 16 hours straight, in extremely hot conditions. Ultimately, the union asked Mr. McDonald if he would assist them in arbitration over disciplinary action related to the strike, since they knew planned to attend law school. Taking on a very successful and experienced attorney, he wound up winning. It was then that he knew exactly what path he would take in law school. That opponent was prominent Boston management attorney Arthur Stevenson, who later served as a friend and mentor to Mr. McDonald as he navigated his way through law school and into the practice of labor law in Boston and beyond. Mr. McDonald is forever grateful to Attorney Stevenson for his professionalism and support.

Affiliated with several industry-related organizations, Mr. McDonald a long time member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, where he has served as the chairperson of the dispute resolutions committee, and the Boston Bar Association, in which he has served in multiple labor-related committees. Mr. McDonald has received several awards for his legal expertise from such organizations as the Massachusetts Nurses Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Police Coalition, and was the recipient of the prestigious Cushing-Gavin Award for excellence in labor and management relations from the Labor Guild of the Archdiocese of Boston in 2002. Named to several legal publications, notably Best Lawyers in America, Massachusetts Super Lawyers and New England Super Lawyers, Mr. McDonald is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been showcased in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
