Presently serving as the clinical director for Assurance Home Inc., in Roswell, New Mexico, since 1992, Mr. Lewis is a tenured professional with years of expertise in his field. Prior to his near 30-year career at the nonprofit, he was aligned with the New Mexico Health and Social Services Department in Roswell, New Mexico, Highlands University and Lubbock Christian between 1971 and 1992. Hired immediately after graduating from college, Mr. Lewis advanced through the positions of a district training officer, field office manager, social worker consultant and the director of operations.
Utilizing his expertise, Mr. Lewis built a prolific career as an adjunct instructor at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell and Texas Technological University in Lubbock. He also maintained involvement with the board of directors for his current employer, Assurance Home Inc., an organization devoted to caring for the homeless and at-risk youth, and for Chaves County Home Health Agency Inc., in Roswell. He was likewise an active member of the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners and the State of New Mexico Acupuncture Board and a New Mexico delegate to the Association of State Social Work Boards. Additionally, Mr. Lewis excelled as a behavioral science specialist at the Community Guidance Center in San Antonio, Texas, and a clinical director of Chaves County First Offender Program in Roswell during the 1970s.
Serving an instrumental role in his community for many years, Mr. Lewis affiliated with Parents Anonymous of New Mexico Inc. from 1978 until 1979. He later distinguished himself with the Alzheimer's Association as a volunteer coordinator between 2000 and 2004. Eminently qualified, Mr. Lewis is a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed independent social worker.
Mr. Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of New Mexico in 1966, followed by a Master of Arts in social work at Our Lady of the Lake College in 1971. Due to his affinity for his field, he has been a member of several industry-related organizations. He is a member and a 1992 New Mexico Rose Praisner Award recipient of the National Association of Social Workers. Mr. Lewis is also a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and, among others, the National Center for Crisis Management.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Lewis was recognized by being named an Outstanding Young Man of America by U.S. Jaycees in 1978 and 1981. He was later bestowed with a Caring Employee of the Year Award from United Way in 2004. Of all his accomplishments, however, he is most proud of the time he contributed working alongside other social workers within the state in an effort to get licensing in New Mexico. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Lewis has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
