Dr. Manuta is renowned as a chemist and a consultant with a career spanning four decades of expertise in photochemistry, thermodynamics and nuclear industry concerns. He initially pursued an education at the State University of New York at Oneonta with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, but discovered that his talent was for chemistry, not biology. Dr. Manuta eventually earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the aforementioned university in 1979 before obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985.

From 1980 to 1981, Dr. Manuta began his career as a laboratory technician for Science Process & Research in Somerset, New Jersey. He worked as a teaching assistant and a postdoctoral fellow at the State University of New York at Binghamton from 1981 to 1986, at which point he became appointed as an assistant professor at Upper Iowa University until 1988. Dr. Manuta later served as an assistant professor at Shawnee State University during the 1989 to 1990 academic year, before flourishing from 1990 to 2000 as a member of the research staff for the United States Enrichment Corporation in Piketon, Ohio.

Dr. Manuta found success as the director of Intercity Testing & Consultant Corporation's Midwest office from 2004 to 2010 as well as a senior consultant for Boson Technology Resources LLC from 2005 to 2014. Since 1998, he has excelled as the owner and a principal consultant of Manuta Chemical Consulting, an international enterprise that provides solutions for small businesses looking to mediate disputes, develop new compounds for market and secure federal contracts. Moreover, Dr. Manuta has been invited to speak at numerous conferences and symposia, and has been published extensively in digital media and peer-reviewed publications.

In addition to his exemplary efforts in these roles, Dr. Manuta is proud to leverage his immense professional knowledge as an expert witness in dozens of legal cases. While most of the cases in which he provides testimony regard matters of insurance fraud and fire investigation, he specifically recalls a criminal case in which his statements about the nature of gunshot residue that led to the acquittal of the defendant, a man accused of murder. He considers his involvement in this case to be a highlight of his career. In recognition for his immense contributions to the field of chemistry, Dr. Manuta was presented a 2010 Presidential Citation of Merit from the American Institute of Chemistry.

Notably recognized as a SUNY Alumni of Distinction in 2014, Dr. Manuta has participated on the strategic planning committee of the Ohio Academy of Science, and formerly thrived as the financial chair of the Portsmouth Employees chapter of the National Management Association. He was additionally active as a two-time past president of the Pike County Humane Society and the secretary of the Southern Central Ohio Big Brothers, Big Sisters between 1996 and 2019.
Furthermore, Dr. Manuta is a fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, with which he also holds a variety of administrative posts, and a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials.
