ARC Canada President & CEO, Norman JD Sawyer, to Speak at Canadian Supply Chain Webinar Event

SAINT JOHN, NB, May 05, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ARC Canada, Inc. (ARC Canada) President & CEO, Norman JD Sawyer, will be speaking at the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) Webinar event on Wednesday, May 6th at 1pm (ADT). The discussion will focus on New Brunswick as an advanced small modular reactor (SMR) hub and the progress that continues in building a local manufacturing industry and supply chain to support the ARC Canada technology for its domestic and global market.

The OCNI's webinar platform provides an opportunity for ARC Canada to share its continued progress and vision. "Even through these trying times, we continue to move forward," says Mr. Sawyer, a native New Brunswicker. "The strength of our population lies in its ability to persevere and with that strength and determination, this project continues while always putting health and safety first."

Founded in 1979, OCNI is an association of leading Canadian suppliers to the nuclear industry in Canada and abroad. "OCNI is pleased to create this opportunity to introduce the ARC-100 technology to up to 200 of its member companies to begin discussions on how the broader Canadian nuclear supply can work with local companies to build a strong ARC-100 supply chain in New Brunswick," said OCNI President and CEO, Ron Oberth.

The Province of New Brunswick offers pre-existing industry pillars over most places in North America for ARC Canada's technology development. These pillars include a strong nuclear background, an experienced and effective nuclear operator, a flexible and highly competent work force and academia that can support development and innovation. ARC Canada's vision is to create a manufacturing industry and supply chain delivering economic growth, well-paying supply chain jobs and the opportunity for New Brunswick to take the lead in the advanced small modular reactor technology field.

With a distinguished career in the Canadian nuclear power industry, Mr. Sawyer has been involved in both the operation of commercial nuclear power plants and in the regulation of the Canadian nuclear power industry. "Partnering non-emitting energy sources with economic growth and prosperity will be paramount as we manage our way through these challenging times. It is important that we keep the discussion moving forward through forums such as this OCNI webinar. I see this as an opportunity to provide the public with a status update from ARC Canada and discuss our vision for the future. This new way of doing business through a technology platform provides an opportunity for a broader audience to participate while keeping people safe at home."

The Webinar event is open for public registration at https://ocni.ca/events/new-brunswick-as-an-advanced-smr-hub/ at 1pm (ADT) / 12pm (ET) on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020.
