CONYNGHAM, PA, May 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present David E. Miller, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Miller celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Now retired, Dr. Miller is a professor emeritus of physics who devoted 32 years to the Pennsylvania State University, until 2015. He formerly held faculty appointments at the Bielefeld University, in Germany as a privat dozent and scientific associate of physics, the Free University of Berlin as a scientific assistant and the State University of New York (SUNY Stony Brook) as a physics instructor. During his tenure at Penn State, Dr. Miller was active on the university senate from 1988 to 1996, where he participated in many senate sessions and committee meetings. He has been teaching at the university level since 1970.

As a seasoned researcher in his field, Dr. Miller has published many articles in scholarly journals, as well as professional reports, and has served as a professional evaluator and referee for several scientific journals, including Physical Review and the European Physical Journal. He has also spoken at various conferences and has served as a lecturer through the Fulbright program in Wroclaw, Poland, and Zagreb, Croatia.

Mathematics was a subject that came easy to Dr. Miller, which is why he decided to continue his studies in physics and chemistry. His physics thesis advisor, Prof. Max Dresden, who was a great mentor to him during college, was also instrumental years later in advancing his career. An alumnus of the University of Vermont, Dr. Miller notably received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and physics, with special honors, in 1965. He soon after acquired a Master of Arts in physics and a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical physics at SUNY in 1967 and 1971, respectively, as well as a Habilitation under Prof. Helmut Satz in theoretical physics at the University of Bielefeld in 1978.

A recognized member of several industry-related organizations, Dr. Miller is currently aligned with the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Mathematical Society, the Fulbright Association and the German Physical Society. He is also active with The Phi Beta Kappa Society and Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. At the University of Vermont he received the Chemical Rubber Company Achievement Award in Physics for 1962-1963.

Dr. Miller received a Heinrich Hertz scholarship in theoretical physics from 1977 to 1978 and a Fulbright Award from the University of Wroclaw in Poland in 1997 and the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Croatia in 2004. Recognized for his dedication and achievements in his field, he received an Outstanding Research Award from the Pennsylvania State University in 2005.
