ANZA, CA, May 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Cahuilla Band of Indians announced Friday that the new Cahuilla Casino Hotel will open Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Cahuilla initially broke ground Oct. 13, 2018, on a new casino and hotel property that replaces the original sprung-structure casino facility that has been in operation for over 24 years. However, in an effort to help to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect the health and well-being of the community, guests and team members, the casino has been closed since March 18, and the originally scheduled April 2 grand opening had to be postponed.

The Cahuilla Team is closely monitoring policy changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements and will continue to make changes as necessary or appropriate to these procedures and guidelines as needed. During this time of closure and in preparation of opening the new Cahuilla Casino Hotel property, there have been significant enhancements to the health and sanitation guidelines for the property.

In addition, Cahuilla Casino Hotel partnered with San Diego-based TruClean to apply an antimicrobial surface protectant that stops the growth of microorganisms for up to a year with a single application, throughout all touch points of the entire casino, hotel and gas station. Cahuilla Casino Hotel was the first casino to take these types of additional precautionary measures to protect their guests and team members, in preparation for the opening of the new property.

Additional protective measures that have been put in place to ensure a safe environment for our guests and team members include:

-All guests and team members will have a noninvasive temperature check utilizing laser, no contact thermometers before entering the property.
-All guests and team members will be required to wear facial masks when on property. Disposable masks will be provided if needed. Disposable gloves will be provided upon request.
-The Casino gaming floor will be limited to a maximum of 250 guests.
-Slot machines will be turned off and/or reconfigured with chairs removed to allow for physical separation between guests.
-Table Games will be limited to three players per table.
-Ribbonwood Grill dining tables and chairs will be removed and reconfigured to allow for physical separation between parties.
-The Bar will have machines turned off and chairs removed.
-Increased hand sanitizer dispensers are located throughout the property and hand sanitizing wipes are available.
-All hotel rooms to be sanitized routinely with high heat
-Signage placed throughout the property to indicate proper social distancing.
-Increased sanitation efforts to ensure that all touch points are cleaned at least once every four hours.

"We are eager to unveil and share the new Cahuilla Casino Hotel with our guests, team members and the community and we stand by our commitment to protecting the health and safety of all," said Tribal Chairman Daniel Salgado. "Our focus during this time of closure has been on implementing protective measures and enhanced sanitary guidelines throughout the new property to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our guests and team members. We plan to slowly phase into opening operations to ensure that we can allow for proper social distancing and will continue to evaluate all aspects of our operations."

The new Cahuilla Casino Hotel will feature expanded gaming options and restaurants, offering guests a complete experience. The new casino gaming floor will feature additional slot machines; including a dedicated high limit gaming area; and the addition of table games. The new hotel features 58 well-appointed rooms including suites, which will be connected to the new casino.
