FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, June 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new book titled "After the Bombing: a Royal Yugoslavia Army Commander's Story", written by Colonel Slavko N. Bjelajac (deceased in 1984) is now available for online purchase Bjelajac finished his manuscript in 1982 two years before his death. Until now, the memoirs were only available for reading through the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

Bjelajac was Secretary of War to the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia during the Belgrade bombing in 1941. The book tells his story of seeing the Government off from a small landing strip Montenegro, his capture by the Germans, subsequent escape, and return to Yugoslavia to lead a force of 10,000 guerillas and an underground of 15000 underground patriots under the supreme command of Draza Mihailovich. Colonel Bjelajac recounts his special mission ordered by General Draza Mikhailovich to Italy and then to Egypt to convince the Allies not to switch their support from the Royalists forces to Tito's communist Partisans.

"After the Bombing" is an easy read that should please all readers, whether novices or serious historians interested in learning more about the exceptionally difficult period faced by all Yugoslavs during WW II.

Bjelajac's words should carry a good deal of weight considering his illustrious post-WW II career in the US military establishment where he produced over 150 unclassified and classified studies on psychological operations, unconventional warfare, counterinsurgency, and subversion. During the 1950s and 1960s, academics and experts alike turned to his works in formulating the United States' doctrines of unconventional warfare and counterinsurgency. These works are now preserved at The Hoover Institute at Stanford University.

The book is available for online purchase at www.afterthebombing.com.
