Eisen received certification from the Patient Advocate Certification Board (PACB) as a Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA). He becomes the first attorney in Ohio to earn this certification.
The PACB strives to develop and maintain standards for patient and healthcare advocates, including establishing ethical standards, skills, and best practices for recognized patient advocates. The Board focuses on patient-centered care and works to professionalize advocacy for patients, including developing professional development programs, administering patient advocacy examinations, and issuing patient advocate certifications to qualified individuals.
Board-certified patient advocates have demonstrated their fitness and ability to serve patients who need representation and guidance regarding healthcare. BCPAs are expected to adhere to the PACB best practices, code of responsibility, and ethical standards. BCPAs include a wide range of multidisciplinary professionals who have advanced knowledge and skill when it comes to helping patients through the complex healthcare system. To qualify, an individual must:
● Be active and dedicated to patient advocacy
● Complete the application process
● Pass a rigorous BCPA certification exam
The exam is administered and certifications issued twice per year.
