He previously spent 25 years as the Authority's lab services manager. During the initial stages of his career, Mr. Rexing worked as a chemist for the Evansville Waterworks Plant between 1970 and 1972.
Mr. Rexing pursued an education at the University of Evansville, from which he attained a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. He subsequently completed postgraduate coursework at the University of Arizona between 1972 and 1975, during which time he served as a graduate research assistant. In concluding his academic efforts, he earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of Nevada in 1981. Following this accomplishment, Mr. Rexing obtained a patent that contributed significantly to the increasing of knowledge within his field, and has written numerous articles to various professional journals as a result of his research.
Long possessed of a fascination for chemistry, Mr. Rexing was mentored by one of his organic chemistry professors during his senior year in college, who steered the younger man to explore the waterworks industry, which involved a combination of chemistry, physics, microbiology and various other forms of science. Intrigued, he eventually undertook an internship to gain more insight into the field. After some time, Mr. Rexing came to believe firmly in the value of such work, and dedicated his career pursuits accordingly.
Aligned with several pertinent organizations, Mr. Rexing is a fellow of the American Institute Chemists. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association, for which he has been actively involved in numerous capacities, including as an editorial consultant, the vice chairperson for the standards council and a trustee of the water quality division, among others. Additionally, Mr. Rexing is a member of the honorable societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Mu Epsilon.
Recognized for his career achievements, Mr. Rexing received an Academy Achievement Award in 1988 and a Certificate of Appreciation in 1988 and 1990 from the American Water Works Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been cited in the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the West. Outside of his professional circles, Mr. Rexing is an avid hiker and woodworker.
