    NORTHPORT, NY, July 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Christine Fiorella Russo, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Russo has been featured in over 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Dr. Russo celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Eminently qualified, Dr. Russo received a Bachelor of Arts at Marymount Manhattan College in 1953, followed by a Master of Science in Education at Fordham University in 1959. She later attended Hofstra University, from which she acquired a Diploma in Literacy in 1978, a Doctor of Philosophy in English, Psychology and Literacy in 1987 and undertook additional postgraduate courses in Psychology between 1987 and 1988. Dr. Russo is certified in Early Childhood and English for grades seven through twelve and also in Litigation through Adelphi University and the National Center for Paralegal Training.

Teaching in several private and public schools throughout New York, Dr. Russo has leveraged 65 years in the field of education. First hired to teach at St. Margaret's School in the Bronx in 1955, she was subsequently recruited by Sacred Heart in New York County the following year. By 1957, she began her tenure with the Board of Education in New York City. Aligned with Harborfields District #6 on Long Island since 1960, Dr. Russo specializes in Literacy and Mathematics. From 1990 to 1998 Dr. Russo was also an adjunct professor in English and Creative Writing at Marymount Manhattan College.

For the past 35 years, in addition to her full-time commitments in the classroom, Dr. Russo has been involved in numerous educational initiatives and provided her expertise in different areas of education. From 1985 to 1992 she acted as the Long Island Representative for the recruitment of students to Marymount Manhattan College, and served as a member of the Alumnae Advisory Council at Marymount in 1990. From 1992 to 1998 she acted as the First Vice President of the Board of Directors of the College's Alumni Council, and simultaneously, volunteered her time on the Board of Directors for the School of Education of Fordham University. From 1990 to 1991 she was the Vice President of the Guilford International Society for Intelligence Education. Moreover, she volunteered her time to support community relations at St. John's Hospital in Smithtown, New York. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New York Academy of Sciences, the New York Orton Dyslexia Society, the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children and, among others, the Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD) organization. Dr. Russo is also a member and former chapter First Vice President of Phi Delta Kappa, whose mission is founded on the three tenets of Research, Service, and Leadership.

Dr. Russo received several teaching awards since the early 1990s as well as the 1998 School of Education Alumni Achievement Award from Fordham University. In 2013, Dr. Russo was the recipient of the Pére Gailhac Award for her leadership and her continuous service from Marymount Manhattan College. In 2016, she was appointed a founding member of the President's Advisory Council providing advice in strategic matters at Marymount. In 2018, Marymount recognized Dr. Russo for her high values and strong commitment to education, bestowing upon her the esteemed Mother Butler Gold Cross.

Aligned with several student organizations, Dr. Russo has been an active participant in the Anthology Association of Poetry and Short Stories, which involves publication of students' notable literary creations. She recognizes that the prospect of publication can be extremely rewarding and highly motivating to her students. In 2004, Dr. Russo's article, "A Comparative Study of Creativity and Cognitive Problem Solving Strategies of Bright and Average Students" was published in Gifted Child Quarterly (Vol 48, No. 3).

Dr. Russo resides in Northport with her husband, Victor Donald Russo, Esq., who was recognized as a Top Attorney of North America by Who's Who Directories in 2017, having spent more than 60 years as a negligence trial attorney. As a plaintiff's attorney, he also received numerous awards from the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for his successful efforts to secure medical and financial benefits for Vietnam Veterans exposed to the toxic Agent Orange defoliant, the largest product liability litigation in American legal history. In 1990 they traveled extensively to the Orient where both had the opportunity to experience the culture. They visited schools in Hong Kong, attended classes in Seoul, Korea and then in Yokohama, Japan where Dr. Russo presented her dissertation, entitled "A Comparative Study of Creativity and Cognitive Problem-Solving Strategies of High-IQ and Average Students." The trip also included a visit and a tour to Kyoto, the Shrine City.
