Bressman Law Awards Safe Roads Policy Scholarship to Grace Traina of Covington, LA

Bressman Law is proud to announce the winner of the Safe Roads Policy Scholarship

DUBLIN, OH, July 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bressman Law, the Columbus, Ohio based personal injury firm, awarded its Bressman Law Safe Roads Policy Scholarship to Grace Traina, 18, of Covington, LA. Ms. Traina is a recent graduate of Mandeville High School and an incoming freshman at the New York University Stern School of Business Undergraduate College.

Bressman Law established this $2,500 scholarship to inspire young people to seriously consider road safety policy and safe driving. With more than 25 years of representing clients who have been injured on unsafe roads, Bressman Law is passionate about road safety.

To enter, students had to write a policy memo offering an actionable way to fix a specific road and traffic safety issue. The memo was required to be addressed to a policymaker who had agency to correct the issue.

Ms. Traina's Scholarship Entry Addressed Her Hometown Interstate

Ms. Traina wrote a detailed and specific memo about a stretch of Interstate 12 which runs through her hometown. Ms. Traina drove this stretch to and from her high school in nearby Mandeville, along with more 76,000 other vehicles a day.

"The interstate serves as both the essential daily transit route of local Covington citizens and the hauling route for thousands of 18-wheelers traveling across the state," she wrote.

Often these two types of drivers collide. In 2018, in Covington, an 18-wheeler couldn't stop during a sudden traffic slowdown and crashed into several cars. Multiple people, including the truck driver, were killed and many more were injured.

Ms. Traina addressed her memo to then St. Tammany Parish President, Pat Brister. Ms. Traina also wrote about how she and her classmates often studied and debated Ms. Brister's policies in her high school government classes.

Ms. Traina is Active in Her School and Community

Ms. Traina is the daughter of Jennifer and Richard Traina of Covington. She was an active leader in her high school community, holding offices in the class government, Key Club, the math honor society, Mu Alpha Theta, and student council. She is a National Honor Society member and was co-president and treasurer for Helping Hands which raises funds for underprivileged students and local food banks. She also interned for the Louisiana Bar Association.
