Attaining much success throughout the years, Dr. Bauer has become a well-known pioneer in the development and performance of a completely new method for laparoscopic appendectomies, which combines laparoscopic and open techniques. His abdominal operations, he noted, have often been performed in a hospital with no intensive care units on site, making surgery much more risky, albeit necessary. Writing extensively in his field, Dr. Bauer has contributed various articles to scholarly journals. Most notably, he authored an instruction video about his unique laparoscopic appendectomy method. Published online, it received so much attention that it was later translated into several other languages. Since 2019, Dr. Bauer is employed as a clinical expert for medical products at a German Notified Body and thus he makes others participate in his surgical experience.
Dr. Bauer studied in his home country of Germany, receiving a Doctor of Medicine at Staatsministerium des Innern, Bavaria, in 1988. Shortly thereafter, he completed a doctorate degree, magna cum laude, at the University of Würzburg in 1989. Dr. Bauer also received a surgical diploma from Landesärztekammer in Hessen in 1996 and a visceral surgery diploma from Landesärztekammer in Baden-Württemberg in 2001.
To support his illustrious career in medicine, Dr. Bauer has been active as a life member of the German Society for Visceral Surgery, the German Society for Surgery and the Professional Association of German Surgeons. He is also a life member of Mensa in Deutschland and the IFHS, a German society for highly sensitive persons.
