Shincheonji Church from Korea Calls All Religious Believers to Pray for an End to the COVID-19 Pandemic

Minority religious group Shincheonji gathered its members to pray for the end of COVID-19 on Wednesday and encourages believers all around the world to do the same.

GWACHEON, KOREA, September 17, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shincheonji Church of Jesus of South Korea has called for all religious groups to gather virtually and pray with a goal to "unite the world religions to overcome the pain and crisis caused by COVID-19".

On September 16th at noon (Korean time), Shincheonji Church itself gathered members from all 12 Tribes of its organization to hold an online prayer meeting in which they asked God for healing of the world from COVID-19. This prayer meeting was held on the suggestion of the church's Chairman, Man Hee Lee, who invited other religious groups around the world to participate in one heart in large-scale virtual prayer meetings as well. Shincheonji stated that these prayer meetings are "to overcome disaster in a situation where the world is suffering from COVID-19. We want to break down the walls of denominations and religions, and pray as one religious people."

The church says they will continue to pray until the COVID-19 pandemic ceases, and they also pray for the repentance of sins that have been committed knowingly and unknowingly. At this time of worldwide crisis, Shincheonji is initiating and setting an example for the religious world to overcome this hardship together by transcending religious barriers.

Shincheonji Church has been conducting online worship services since February 18th and is holding no in-person meetings.
