After graduating from apprenticeship training school, Mr. Rathbone joined the Sheet Metal Workers International Union in Binghamton, New York. He is also licensed in heating and air conditioning with unlimited licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina. During subsequent years, while weathering economic hardship, he relocated to South Carolina to establish his own company with a partner, Acosta Mechanical. Following five years of success, he sold the company and opened Tri-County Mechanical Inc. in Little River, South Carolina.
While active in his current position, Mr. Rathbone leverages his expertise in HVAC, construction and renovation to handle large commercial clients, as well as all air conditioning and heating services for customers. He also fabricates custom sheet metal ductwork and fittings as well as spiral pipe and fittings. Well regarded for his efforts throughout the years, Mr. Rathbone was recognized by Horry News Readers Choice Award as #17 in the 25 Fastest Growing Companies in South Carolina. In 2017 his company was recognized by Inc. 5000 Greatest and Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs finishing #2,525 out of 5,000 companies.

Over the years, Mr. Rathbone has been most proud to earn numerous accolades, securing large contracts and observing his company grow. He maintains his professional affiliation with the South Carolina Heating and Air Conditioning Association and the local chamber of commerce. He has attributed his professional success to his propensity for charisma and diligent work ethic. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rathbone hopes to retire and pass his business on to his children.
