A steadfast advocate for human rights, Ms. Wood began her career in the field of law in New Mexico, serving as a public defender and a law clerk for the chief judge of the New Mexico Supreme Court. After becoming aware of the sanctuary movement in El Salvador, she was moved by their plight and decided to dedicate her work to immigration law. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Ms. Wood won a case for an El Salvadorian man, which cemented her passion for this aspect of the law.

Backed by 35 years of expertise, Ms. Wood currently excels as an attorney with the Law Offices of Judith L. Wood, with which she specializes in federal litigation and immigration law, specifically regarding political asylum. Recently, she obtained a judgment in favor of her client in a landmark case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Nasseri v. Moschorak, which made significant strides for women fleeing violence and seeking refuge in the United States. Outside of her primary responsibilities, Ms. Wood remains dedicated to immigrant rights as the head of the Human Rights Project, which advocates for the rights of refugees around the world.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Wood earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the City College of New York in 1969. She subsequently obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981. She retains her professional alignment with the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the American Bar Association as well as the American Immigration Lawyers Association. In light of her outstanding work in the field, Ms. Wood will soon be presented with the Wonder Woman of the 4th Lifetime Achievement Award by Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu.

With a plethora of knowledge to her credit, Ms. Wood has authored several works, including "The Right to Asylum," "Erosion of Women's Rights in U.S. Immigration Cases Involving Asylum Seekers" and "International Human Rights Law and Discrepancies With Recent Jurisprudence and U.S. Asylum Law." Additionally, one of her cases became the subject of a motion picture titled "Saint Judy," starring Michelle Monaghan and Alfred Molina. Looking ahead, Ms. Wood intends to continue fighting for the rights of immigrants and refugees.
