At the start of his career, he joined Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. in Japan before moving on to Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington as a senior systems analyst. He then became a research assistant at Harvard Business School, earned a doctorate, and then joined investment bank Goldman Sachs on Wall Street as an internal consultant where he helped plan their international expansion. He then returned to teaching in Washington, became a Fulbright Scholar for teaching innovation in New Zealand, and over the years, taught at Ritsumeikan University in Japan, ISEMI in Israel and the U.S. Department of State. Complementing his new teaching methods, Dr. Linowes has published five casebooks with the Institute of International Education and USAID that profile businesses in emerging markets around the world.
A graduate of Princeton, the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School, Dr. Linowes holds a Bachelor of Arts in cybernetics, a Master of Science in computer and communication sciences, and a Doctor of Business Administration in administrative systems. He is professionally tied to the Academy of Management and the Association of Japanese Business Studies.
