Madison Musical Theatre Company Opens Internationally

During COVID, with on-Demand Streaming of Award-Winning Show

Abrams notes: "We are always excited to immerse our audience in new, creative experiences, and this one is no exception. We also love to inspire different cultures to find what they have in common.

MADISON, WI, November 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Capital City Theatre (CCT) is reinventing and thereby employing professional performers and creatives during the COVID-19 crisis, which has forced many theaters to shut down. Part of this re-invention is their new production of Daddy Long Legs, which CCT will present through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), just in time for Thanksgiving.

Available to stream on-Demand world-wide, from November 18-28, 2020, ticket holders will be able to find creative ways to watch Daddy Long Legs together, even if they are miles apart.

Daddy Long Legs is a fresh, quickly-beloved chamber musical written in 2007, with music & lyrics by Paul Gordon, and the book by Tony Award-winning librettist & director, John Caird. The story is timeless, but also timely. Based upon a classic novel by Jean Webster, and the 1955 movie with Fred Astaire, the musical draws the audience into a comforting, mysterious escape.

CCT is also staying true to its mission: accessible prices, diverse casting; hiring both big stars and local talent. Through our Conservatory, we train the musical theatre students whom we would want to hire as professionals, and whose talent audiences would be thrilled to experience.

Our cast includes Kevin McAllister, who plays Jervis. Kevin is from Broadway's Come From Away, and the upcoming Caroline or Change. He also played the role of Flick to rave reviews, in Capital City Theatre's break-out production of Violet in 2015. Jerusha, is played by Kailey Boyle - a multi-year, alum of Capital City Theatre Conservatory, and a recent graduate of the esteemed, Baldwin Wallace musical theatre program. She's performed professionally, to reviews that expect her name to appear on the marquees of Broadway, when theaters re-open.

Stephen Amato directed Kevin and the cast of Capital City Theatre's Violet in 2015, returning to direct CCT's first foray into the online world of theatre, "I am grateful to have worked with an incredible team of people whose efforts created something very special." Evan Lange joins him as Musical Director of Daddy Long Legs.

Artistic Director, Andrew Abrams, is no stranger to international exposure, as he (music) and Bill Augustin (lyrics) wrote, But I'm a Cheerleader, The Musical, which was featured at "West End Live" and also MT UKFEST in 2019.

Abrams notes: "We are always excited to immerse our audience in new, creative experiences, and this one is no exception. We also love to inspire different cultures to find what they have in common, and what we can learn from each other. With this show, and with help from COVID-19 Cultural Organization Grants -- awarded through Wisconsin's Governor Evers, we can also bring people together through space and time. If you think about it, that is rather amazing."
