IRVINE, CA, December 10, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kasandra Mina Di Pieri has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As a child, Ms. Di Pieri dealt with a learning disability and frequently encountered teachers who were impatient. She also engaged in science projects with her father, who was a mechanical engineer, and in the process, fell in love with science. Driven to ensure that other children did not struggle as she did and would see the relevance of science to their everyday lives, she pursued a career in education and gained valuable expertise with the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she worked for a decade with at-risk students in inner city schools. Today, she channels her considerable expertise into her work with Canyon High School, where she has served as an Earth Science teacher since 2020. She previously excelled as a Chemistry teacher for Capistrano Unified School District from 2019 to 2020.
In her work as an educator, Ms. Di Pieri has planned and implemented science and life skills lessons, creatively implemented the arts into her lessons to address all learning styles, administered formal and informal assessments to monitor student learning, and provided caring customer service to students and parents regarding academic progress. Prior to returning to her career in education, Ms. Di Pieri worked in a landscape design firm as a Landscape Designer and Deputy Project Manager for two years, and as a Forestry Technician with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of the outpouring of letters she has received from her students during Teacher Appreciation Week, and after conducting a career day for high school students while working for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Having students thank her for involving them in the field of STEM and inspiring them to pursue their dreams has been a standout moment in her career.
Throughout her career, Ms. Di Pieri has received numerous degrees and certifications, including a Single Subject Credential in Introductory Music, Plant Science, Forestry and Horticulture, Geoscience, and Chemistry, a Master of Arts in Science Education from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is also a Certified Arborist and an Emergency Medical Technician. To remain abreast of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the California Teachers Association and the International Society of Arboriculture.
In light of her professional achievements, Ms. Di Pieri has been honored many times, earning a Student Achievement Award for Community Service through the American Society of Landscape Architecture. Looking ahead, she intends to teach Horticulture infused with Landscape Design at the high school level as an elective. Additionally, Ms. Di Pieri also wants to obtain a single subject credential to teach Biology and Agriculture.
