A senior-level executive with considerable expertise in financial management, commercial real estate and investment banking, he excels as President and Chief Executive Officer of Lafayette Federal Credit Union, an $846.7 million financial institution servicing more than 27,000 members around the world. As a strong and results-focused leader, Mr. Farmakides maintains responsibility for overseeing direction and guidance for the overall operation of the institution, manages a comprehensive commercial lending program, and identifies, negotiates, executes and integrates credit union mergers in order to increase assets.
Before obtaining his current role, Mr. Farmakides gained valuable expertise in the field as Managing Director of Havenwood Capital Markets, where he focused on originating, structuring, and placing equity and debt capital for public and private companies nationwide. He also served as First Vice President of Federal Financial Advisory Services for CB Richard Ellis, Inc., where he maintained responsibility for portfolio analysis on the acquisition, management and disposition of portfolios totaling more than $3.23 billion. Earlier, he worked in management positions for Insignia/ESG, Inc., and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
To remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Farmakides aligns himself with the Regulatory Committee of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association, the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, the American Bar Association and the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, among several other organizations.
Outside of his work, Mr. Farmakides remains dedicated to his community through the Children's Miracle Network and Capitol Area Food Bank. Looking ahead, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
