SCOTTSDALE, AZ, December 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- R. Michael Perry, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Perry is a scientist and transhumanist celebrating more than 30 years of dedicated service as the Care Services Manager for the Alcor Life Extension Foundation. Since 1987, he has managed the foundation's storage operations, including maintenance and care of cryonics containers and stored tissues. Since childhood, Dr. Perry maintained a fascination with the concept of life extension, recalling that he "never liked the idea of death," and felt that there must be a way to scientifically address the dying process.
Dr. Perry's interest in cryonics was sparked by a plot from a science fiction series, but soon influenced his professional interests. After earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Chicago in 1969, Dr. Perry continued his studies at the University of Colorado, earning a Master of Science in 1979 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1984, both in computer science. Since his undergraduate years, he had theorized that cryonics was not just the realm of science fiction, but a legitimate avenue for life extension and tissue preservation while medical technology advances.
Dr. Perry joined the Alcor Life Extension Foundation's staff in 1987 and attributes his success to his devotion to transhumanism and personal passion for life extension technologies. He views his work as a "way of life," and plans to continue working in the field for as long as he is able. Dr. Perry is the author of a book on life extension, Forever for All: Moral Philosophy, Cryonics, and the Scientific Prospects for Immortality, and is active with the Society for Universal Immortalism and the Society for Venturism.
