Dr. Helen Jackson Celebrated for Dedication to the Fields of Physics, Machine Learning and Engineering

Dr. Jackson lends over 30 years of professional expertise to her role with Summit2Sea Consulting



    WASHINGTON, DC, January 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Helen Jackson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Drawing upon more than three decades of practiced expertise in physics, engineering and machine learning/software development, Dr. Jackson is currently sharing her expertise as a Machine Learning Engineer with Summit2Sea Consulting since 2020, an information technology and management consultancy. Before her current position, her role was in program management and consulting, leveraging multidomain artificial intelligence for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Previous to this she specialized in computer vision for Airport security as a Research Physicist /Data Scientist with Battelle. Her most recent work in Academia was as a visiting Physics Professor at Wright State University.

Dr. Jackson's university level experience also includes the valuable expertise gained in Nuclear Physics while at Fisk University as a Research Associate and as a Nuclear Medicine Research Associate with Vanderbilt University. She had visiting scientist stays at 3 of the National labs: Brookhaven National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she did research for nuclear nonproliferation and advanced detectors, respectively. For several years she was a software engineer at LifeWay Christian Resources, and Square D.

In a career that has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of her name being on the Texas Home Education Law; a law the had a domino effect on home education nationally. Also, in her list of achievements was being accepted into the NASA Astronaut Program back in the 1980's. Upon receiving her Doctor of Philosophy from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology, she was recorded as being the 83rd African American female to graduate with a PhD in Physics internationally. While carrying out her PhD research, she developed a patent for radiation hardness, by way of discovering an optimum thickness of silicon nitride passivation layer on AlGaN/GaN heterostructures.

Her additional education includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tennessee in Physics and a Master of Science in Physics from Fisk University Prior to completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Nuclear Physics in the department of Engineering Physics at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology in 2014, she did PhD studies in Nuclear Physics at Vanderbilt University. Driven to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, she aligns herself with the American Nuclear Society, the American Physical Society, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science ,the Materials Research Society, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the African Scientific Institute, who inducted her as a fellow.

Alongside her multidomain work in physics, engineering and machine learning , Dr. Jackson has been a sponsor for refugee relief and has frequently mentored troubled women. By way of the New York Academy of Sciences, she is a mentor for women hoping to enter the STEM fields. Additionally, she is an active member humanitarian organizations like Doctors Without Borders. Considering her outstanding work in the field, she has received various awards through the Texas Homeschool Coalition. Looking ahead, she intends to become a more recognizable name in the fields of machine learning and physics. Ultimately, Dr. Jackson aims to establish her own corporation in which she can employ other women who specialize in artificial intelligence.
