Originally intent on pursuing a career in medicine and becoming an oncologist, Mrs. Bonanza began helping a family friend in their local independent pharmacy, at the age of 19, when she began as a cashier. After starting a family of her own, she decided to forgo medical school and foster her education in the pharmacy industry. In this way, she would still be helping others while also nurturing a healthy work-life balance. Over the last five years, she has gained valuable expertise in the field as a subject matter expert with Kroger Specialty Pharmacy.
Drawing upon her years of experience, Mrs. Bonanza excels today as a Clinical Support Specialist supervisor with Kroger Specialty Pharmacy. Through open communication and effective oversight, she has created a healthy atmosphere in which to work. In addition to conducting consistent audits by evaluating performance, quality and process adherence, she monitors and adjusts queues, schedules and duties, assists in adverse event and discharge training for non-clinical staff, as well as department recruiting and onboarding, and manages training sessions in order to improve outcomes and adherence to policies and procedures.
Though her career has been filled with highlights and more yet to come, Mrs. Bonanza is most proud of helping the pharmacy grow over the course of the last five years and receiving the Top Healthcare Professional of Central Florida Award through the Daytona Beach News Journal in 2019. She is positive that her work has not only contributed to the team with which she works, but the company at large.
In conjunction with her work, Mrs. Bonanza has previously volunteered in her community through Good Samaritan Clinic in DeLand, Habitat for Humanity and through the use of her personal breast cancer story in Kroger Specialty Pharmacy's company presentations. Within the next five years, Mrs. Bonanza intends to become a certified technician and enroll in school to become a registered nurse.
