Zoica Tovar Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Dance

Ms. Tovar channels years of expertise as a principal dancer into her work as co-director of the United Ballet Theatre Academy

ORLANDO, FL, January 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zoica Tovar has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

At just four years of age, Ms. Tovar began as a ballerina and gymnast, fostering her passion for the arts until she embarked upon her training at the Cuban Ballet National School at the age of nine. Following this accomplishment, she was accepted to Ballet Clasico de la Habana, where she studied under the direction of Laura Alonso. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Tovar became the institution's principal ballerina and has excelled in the field ever since. During the early years of her career, she worked as a principal dancer for the Orlando Ballet, where she also served as a member of the teaching faculty.

After more than a decade with the Orlando Ballet, Ms. Tovar channeled her considerable expertise and her passion for dance into her role as a principal ballet dancer for the BalletMet, where she remains today as a member of the faculty. In conjunction with her work in dance education, she dedicates herself to dance students as the co-director and ballet mistress for the United Ballet Theatre Academy, through which she wrote the classical ballet studies curriculum alongside her husband, Andres Estevez. Throughout the course of her professional journal, Ms. Tovar has worked as a teacher and coach for the North Point Dance Academy and as the head of the summer ballet program for the Orlando Ballet.

Well regarded for her exemplary contributions to the field, Ms. Tovar has performed in a plethora of lead roles, including Odette, Juliet, Swandila, Odile and Kitri and worked with such notable choreographers and artistic directors as Dwight Rhoden, Edwaard Liang, Fernando Bujones, Bruce Mark and Robert Hill. In light of her outstanding breadth of knowledge and experience, she won the Silver Medal in the Alicia Alonso ballet competition in Cuba, received recognition through the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2009 and helped create the Youth America Grand Prix competition team for North Pointe Dance Academy. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the International Dance Organization. Looking toward the future, Ms. Tovar intends to continue working for the success of the United Ballet Theatre in Orlando.
