David LeBlanc Named Chief Product Officer of SecureCloudDB

Public cloud database security software startup adds security veteran to its ranks



    ROCHESTER, NY, January 26, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- SecureCloudDB, the leader in cloud database security, today announced the appointment of David LeBlanc as its Chief Product Officer. LeBlanc will be responsible for product strategy and roadmap, working with customers and further enhancing the value SecureCloudDB brings to its users.

LeBlanc brings nearly 30 years of expertise managing network and software security to his role at SecureCloudDB. He spent more than two decades at Microsoft where he helped found the Trustworthy Computing Group and helped improve the security of Office, Windows, and Azure. Most recently, he served as Principal Software Development Engineer, focusing on security assurance for Azure and specializing in cryptography engineering.

Over the years, LeBlanc co-authored several books including 24 Deadly Sins of Software Security: Programming Flaws and How to Fix Them (an update to its precursor titled 19 Deadly Sins of Software Security), Writing Secure Code for Windows Vista, Assessing Network Security, and Writing Secure Code, which was required reading for all developers at Microsoft. He invented the sandboxing technique used in Office Protected view, SafeInt, and designed the most recent Office document encryption.

Prior to that, LeBlanc led the IBM Internet Security Systems (ISS) development team for the Internet Scanner for Windows NT, which was one of the first commercially successful vulnerability assessment tools. He also served as a founding member of the X-Force vulnerability investigation team.

Today LeBlanc serves on the Technical Advisory board of IOActive, Inc. and lectures on the security development lifecycle as well as how to write secure code at the University of Washington Bothell. He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
