A New Report Outlines Strength and Weaknesses of the Social Enterprise Sector in the EU

Highlighting the diversity of the EU social enterprise sector

ROBIN HOOD BAY, ENGLAND, February 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The UK based organisation Social Enterprise International is delighted to report that the European Social Economy Network (ESEN), a coalition of EU based organisation, has published their first "best practice" report. In it, the coalition outlines best practice tips and tricks for social enterprises throughout Europe. You can find more about the project and the report here: https://esen.ios.edu.pl/en/#IntellectualOutputs

The report also contains a study of the legal framework that hinder or foster the creation of social enterprises as well as a collection of entry points for novices of social enterprises. It further outlines the networks and ecosystem social entrepreneurs can take advantage of different countries throughout the European Union and the United Kingdom. The report is translated in various languages and it is the precursor to an educational product ESEN will provide for free in the coming month to anyone interested.

SEI is excited to invite everyone around the world to take part in their network and share their experiences. This project has been funded by the European Union Erasmus Plus Grants and is uniting a diverse coalition of actors in Europe. We have pioneered ways for people to manage and govern social enterprise by setting up models of social licensing, social auditing and new development strategies

We have worked in over 40 countries often being the first to introduce the idea of social enterprise.

We set up the first courses for managers in social enterprises first in Leeds in 1999 (Accredited) and then in 2002 accredited at level 4 with the University of Hull. We initiated the first UK social enterprise courses for teachers in 1999 based on our co-publication with the Community Action Network (CAN) called 'Learning by Doing'. and then delivered the ground breaking summer schools with Sheffield Hallam University (2009 – 2014) where participants helped us develop our ideas around FairShares social enterprises.

We have developed and supported innovations around the world, pioneering new decision-making and development processes (e.g. Barrowcliff Model, Shared Growth, Social Enterprise Planning, OPERA) and are now active in applied research projects (funded by Erasmus+ and Horizon 20/20).

We have not let up. If anything we are doing more, changing more, harnessing the skills and energy of more and more people and bringing social enterprise to new countries. If you want to find out about our current training courses, international projects or want to use our skills to improve or develop your ideas, please contact us or one of our partners.
