For more than 30 years, Mr. Burton has developed a reputation as a leader in some of the United States' most prestigious accounting and financial management firms. He found his calling in accounting after enrolling in introductory courses in college before graduating from The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, cum laude. Supported by his stellar grade point average and an early reputation for thoroughness, Mr. Burton was subsequently offered to interview with some of the financial management sector's biggest names as a college senior.
Mr. Burton began his career as a staff accountant at Price Waterhouse in 1990, departing to become a senior accountant at Deloitte & Touche LLP in 1992. Also active for a year as an assistant controller for JPS Automotive in the mid-1990s, he accepted a position with Ernst & Young LLP in 1996, excelling as a senior manager until 2008. Mr. Burton would find success for the next four years as the Director of Accounting for Resolute Forest Products before deciding to reassess his work-life balance as to devote more time to his family.
Briefly working as the Chief Internal Auditor for Scan Source in 2012, Mr. Burton has subsequently excelled as the Vice President of Finance and Chief financial Officer for VIS LLC in the years since. In these posts, he has led major restructuring and organizational streamlining initiatives that have been instrumental in allowing the company to grow and eliminate redundancies. In recognition of his career mastery of a broad range of financial leadership functions he is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt by the International Academy of Operational Excellence. Mr. Burton is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Burton looks forward to continuing his career in the coming years while focusing on serving others in the boardroom and as a volunteer in the community.
