Judge Meredith A. Shuford Joins the Law Firm of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert, P.L.L.C.

    SHELBY, NC, February 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The law office of Teddy, Meekins & Talbert is pleased to announce that Judge Meredith A. Shuford has joined the law firm. Judge Shuford will lead the firm's new office in Lincolnton, where her practice will concentrate on family law.

Shuford has served as a District Court Judge for the 27B Judicial District (Cleveland and Lincoln Counties) since 2007. As a judge, she has presided over a variety of cases, including matters involving family law, juvenile law, domestic violence, criminal charges, involuntary commitment, and others.

Before becoming a judge, Shuford practiced law with Lewis & Shuford, P.A., in Lincolnton for nearly a decade. Her caseload involved a wide spectrum of legal matters, including all aspects of family law, criminal defense, personal injury, and Social Security disability, among others.

Shuford earned her law degree cum laude from North Carolina Central University in Durham in 1997. She was also a Kellogg Fellow at the University of Michigan Law School, where she received intensive training on legal issues involving children. Shuford has taken part in extensive judicial training at the North Carolina School of Government, where she earned certification as a Juvenile Court Judge in 2012 after participating in specialized training including Child Development and Substance Abuse issues.

A resident of Lincolnton, Shuford is married to Stefan Nicklich. The couple has four children and one grandchild. She is an active member of her church, where she has served on several committees and as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader.
