Katherine Cooper Rogers Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Ms. Rogers celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. After more than 40 years in the field of healthcare, Ms. Rogers began her teaching career as a professor of nursing at Blinn College in Bryan, Texas in 2012. Since joining the faculty at the aforementioned college, she was recruited as the interim director of nursing during the 2017 academic school year. To remain aware of developments in her field, Ms. Rogers has been a member of the Emergency Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau.

Garnering an incredible reputation as an emergency nurse and legal nurse consultant in years past, Ms. Rogers served as Director of Emergency Services and Disaster Coordinator at Community Memorial Health Center in South Hill, Virginia between 2009 and 2012. She also worked in administrative capacities for several other organizations, including Indian Health Services Alaska. At Eastern Aleutian Tribes, she served as Director of Operations and Clinic Administrator for nine clinics on the Aleutian chain. Additionally, Ms. Rogers was Safety Officer and Director of Infection Control and Trauma Services for Palestine Regional Medical Center in Palestine, Texas and Director Emergency/Trauma Services and Disaster Coordinator for ETMC Jacksonville, Texas. Through her leadership Palestine and Jacksonville Hospitals were designated as Level III Trauma Centers by the State of Texas. Prior to graduation Ms. Rogers was appointed lab supervisor at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. While at Nacogdoches, she began her career, as an emergency department nurse.

Among other noteworthy roles, Ms. Rogers was on the Board of Directors for the Mecklenburg County Women's Shelter and member of the Anderson and Cherokee County Child Advocacy Center. As a child advocate, she was on the medical review team for homicide cases. Apart from her full-time professional commitments, she found success as the trauma site surveyor for the State of Texas, Level IV Trauma Centers, which was an exciting and rewarding experience. Recognizing a need for first responders', Ms. Rogers became an EMT and volunteered on the community ambulance service.

Prior to becoming a nurse, Ms. Rogers was active as a Medical Technologist and Lab Manager in a clinical lab. She worked in the Pharmacology research labs at UTMB Galveston and Ohio State University. As part of her research activities, Ms. Rogers contributed to several scholarly medical journals. After several years, she realized that she could do more for patients if she were working on the front line.

Ms. Rogers initially studied at St. Mary's in Galveston, Texas, with which she became a medical technologist in 1967. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Stephen F. Austin University in 1989, a Master of Arts in management at Regent University in 1995 and a Master of Science in nursing at the University of Phoenix in 2005. A certified emergency nurse, trauma nurse core instructor and emergency pediatric nurse core instructor, she notably received a 25 Year Award as a Certified Emergency Nurse. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Rogers has been recognized in over a dozen editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, and Who's Who of American Women.
