Ms. Wallen is a veteran digital marketing expert and tech entrepreneur with more than 25 years of documented excellence in IT support, implementation and marketing. Her fascination with technology began after her high school purchased computers for classroom use. While most students used them to play games, Ms. Wallen was interested in how they worked, and had soon developed strong technology administration skills. After completing high school, she accepted an IT support role with Randolph-Macon Academy, a military boarding school in Virginia, where she spent the next two years managing a network of more than 400 staff and student PCs and overseeing more than $45,000 in software, hardware and server network upgrades.
In 2000, Ms. Wallen began working for a small list hosting company providing general customer support and managing user experience and abuse complaints. When the company was acquired by Lyris Technologies, Ms. Wallen was one of only three employees selected to relocate and join the new corporate team in San Francisco. By the time Ms. Wallen departed from Lyris Technologies in 2007, she had risen from her initial support position to become manager of the company's entire 200-server hosting operations. She was named head of deliverability for Facultas, a London-based marketing and public relations agency where she was responsible for improving and optimizing deliverability for both their business-to-business and their business-to-client marketing clients, improving overall deliverability to 97% in just under two years. From 2009 until 2012, she acted as account servicing and compliance manager for Creatormail, a DMA Award-winning marketing agency where she further increased her mastery of design, user interfaces and client management strategy while increasing client profitability by more than 80%.
Ms. Wallen returned to the United States in 2012 and began independent freelance work in marketing strategy, list management and advertising placements. She established QB Web, LLC in 2019 to consolidate and promote her freelance work and continue to grow her client base. Currently working with just one employee, Ms. Wallen hopes that QB Web's growth will eventually lead to the creation of sustainable tech-industry jobs in its location in rural West Virginia.
Ms. Wallen attributes her success to her tenacity and willingness to learn, and has been recognized for her innovation in vertical digital marketing with a 2011 Award for Best Client Onboarding Strategy and a 2012 Award of Excellence for Web Analytics Implementation for her work for CreatorMail.
