NEW YORK, NY, March 17, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Drawing on over 35 years of experience, the highly distinguished doctor always knew that he was destined for a career that made a real difference to people's lives. He was strong academically, and successfully completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Syracuse University. Following this achievement, he relocated to the Dominican Republic where he studied for his Medical Degree at the University of Dominicus. Keen to continue his professional development, Dr. Shikowitz attained his Master's in Business Administration from George Washington University, before embarking on a General Surgery residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, and an ENT residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. This was further complemented by a three-year fellowship in viral papilloma research with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and a board-certification in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Currently, Dr. Shikowitz works as Otolaryngologist with Northwell Health System, a role he has upheld since 1986. Dr. Shikowitz undertakes a number of complex and highly specialized procedures including sinus surgery, head and neck surgery, pituitary tumor surgery, balloon sinuplasty, endoscopic skull-based surgery, and facial cosmetic surgery. In addition, he conducts both treatment and surgeries for a vast array of ENT conditions.

Alongside his practical work, Dr. Shikowitz maintains the prestigious position of Vice Chairman of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital. This is in addition to his role as Director of The Zucker Sinus Center of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Keen to help educate and inspire the next generation of medical professionals, Dr. Shikowitz is a Professor of Otolaryngology at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. During his time on missions, Dr. Shikowitz helps to educate other physicians, as well as perform surgeries on patients who are not physically or financially able to access the treatment they require. His continued commitment and dedication to those less fortunate has led to citations from the New York Dominican Medical and Dental Society for his mission work in the Dominican Republic.

Reflecting on his success to date, Dr. Shikowitz is thankful to all those who have supported and inspired him to be the best that he can be; most notably Mr. Lew Frankfort and family, and Barbara and Donald Zucker for their support of his work around the world.
