TALLAHASSEE, FL, March 25, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Bidhan C. Saha, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Saha celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Saha, the chairperson of the department of physics at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, is a celebrated teacher and scholar of more than 40 years. His commitments at the University date back to 1994, when he was first recruited as an assistant professor. Since then, Dr. Saha has earned distinction as the director of the graduate physics committee and the co-principal investigator of the National Science Foundation's Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology, Center for Astrophysical Science and Technology. Prior to his tenure on campus, he spent several years as a research associate at both Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, and the prestigious Yale University, and as a research scientist at the University of Oklahoma in Norman and at Rice University at Houston. At Rice, Dr. Saha was collaborating with Professor Neal F. Lane, the former science advisor of President Bill Clinton and a former NSF director.

Furthering his credentials, Dr. Saha accepted the opportunity to serve as a visiting fellow at the Institute for Theoretical Atomic Molecular and Optical Physics at Harvard University in 2003. The following year, he became a visiting faculty member at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a visiting scholar at Murdoch University in Australia. Focusing his research on theoretical and computational atomic and molecular physics, Dr. Saha is currently investigating an interesting array of challenging problems in quantum collision theory, plasma, and quantum chemistry. His research has notably been disseminated in over 115 scholarly articles in such publications as the Journal of Physics, Physics Review, the International Journal of Quantum Chemistry, and the International Journal of Mass Spectroscopy.

Some of Dr. Saha's community efforts over the years have included forming the Bangladesh Association of Tallahassee in 1998 as its founder and president. He was also aligned with Muktangan as the president during 2011 and 2016. Supporting his illustrious career in physics, Dr. Saha has been aligned with several significant professional organizations. Among them, he is a life member of the American Physical Society, the Association of Indians in America, the Indian Society of Atomic and Molecular Physics and the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science.

Dr. Saha was born in Bangladesh. While coming of age, surrounded by impoverishment, he developed a passion for education, which was his only path of escape. Falling in love with science and mathematics, he received a Bachelor of Science from Dhaka University in Bangladesh in 1966 and a Master of Science at Rajshahi University in 1969. His M.Sc. Thesis advisors at Rajshahi University were Professors A. Husain, M. M. Kasim and Arun K. Basak. Dr. Saha is still continuing collaborative research with the team of his mentor Professor Arun K. Basak, a life-time emeritus Professor of Rajshahi University, Bangladesh. Dr. Saha also completed a Doctor of Philosophy at Kolkata University in India in 1976.
Professor Nimai C. Sil, Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, was Dr. Saha's mentor and Ph.D. supervisor. Within 4 years Dr. Saha completed his research works from this institute and obtained a Ph.D. during her centennial year. To commemorate this historical event the ex-Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, the daughter of the India's first Prime Minister, Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, along with the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr. Siddhartha S. Roy, had attended the ceremony where a few young bright scientists including Dr. Saha had the privilege to meet and greet her on July 29, 1976.

Dr. Saha received the Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award in 2012 from Florida A&M University, as well as the first ever Faculty Excellence in Graduate Mentoring Award in 2015. He has also received several research grants since 1998 and a fellowship from the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences in 2019. In 2020 a prestigious recognition was bestowed upon him by electing Dr. Saha a Fellow of the American Physical Society. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Saha has been cited in the numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
