An accomplished listee, Dr. Boran celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Boran was a prominent orthopedic surgeon who retired from his Pottsville, Pennsylvania, based practice in 2020, following more than three and a half decades. Established in 1983, he specialized in performing hip and knee replacement surgery on patients. During his years in medicine, he was also affiliated with the Lehigh Valley Health Network Physicians Group, one of the largest medical groups in the U.S. Additionally, Dr. Boran was an associate professor of surgery at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and a clinical adjunct faculty staff member at Kings College in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.

Leading a very rewarding career, Dr. Boran is most proud to have seized the opportunity to perform numerous successful surgeries in order to correct deformities and mend fractured bones. While coming of age, he drew inspiration from the example of his father, who was a dentist, and found support and mentorship from various leading physicians, including Dr. Phillip Marone, a team physician of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team and Dr. G. Dean MacEwen, the chief of the Alfred I. DuPont Institute of the Nemours Foundation for Crippled Children.

Born in Pottsville, Dr. Boran was an influential member of his local community in many ways. From 1988 until 2002, he chaired and served on the board of directors of the Schuylkill Rehabilitation Center. Presently, Dr. Boran continues to remain active in retirement with various nonprofit organizations, such as the Knights of Columbus as a fourth degree member and the Union League of Philadelphia.

Dr. Boran studied at Saint Joseph University, where he attained a Bachelor of Science in biology, cum laude, in 1974. He was subsequently accepted to Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he was initially planning to become a general surgeon. However, during his junior year of medical school, he began performing clinical rotations and discovered orthopedic surgery. Graduating in 1978 with a Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Boran completed an internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and a residency in orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Eminently qualified in the field, he is board certified in orthopedic surgery.

Elected as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Dr. Boran has also been an active member of several other national and international professional organizations in support of his career. Among them, he notably served on the nominating committee and the board of directors of the Eastern Orthopedic Association. Likewise, Dr. Boran is a member of the Schuylkill County Medical Society, the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society and the Jefferson Orthopedic Society.
