Nikhil K. Bhayani, MD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Bhayani is an infectious disease specialist who, for the past five years, has maintained his own private practice, DFW Infectious Diseases PLLC since 2016. Specializing in the treatment of all facets of infectious diseases, including compromised patients with HIV and bone and joint infections, he is one of nine specialists serving patients. He notably has two offices in the Dallas-Forth area, Bedford and Frisco, as well as two additional satellite locations in Lewisville and McKinney.

Outside of his work at the office, Dr. Bhayani is a physician adviser for the department of quality, patient safety and infection prevention at Texas Health Resources, a large health care group in Arlington, Texas. This position enables him to work closely with various hospitals, their infection control and clinical pharmacy, as well as their administrators to ensure policies are in place. Dr. Bhayani notably spent four previous years as the chairperson of the organization's department of medicine. Additionally, he has been an assistant professor at Texas Christian University, University of North Texas Health Science Center, in the school of medicine since 2019.

Garnering a laudable reputation as a consulting physician on behalf of Infectious Disease Doctors PA for eight years before establishing his practice, Dr. Bhayani also taught courses as an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Texas at Arlington in the college of nursing during the 2019 to 2020 academic school year. Becoming a prolific speaker and presenter in his field, he also joined numerous hospital committees, where he continues to make a considerable impact. Among his achievements, Dr. Bhayani successfully introduced an HIV prevention program at Apna Ghar, a nonprofit organization in Chicago, in 2004. He has also extensively studied the visual systems of both cats and monkeys, as well as the intricacies of their color, motion, luminance, texture, perspective and shading.

As a community leader, Dr. Bhayani has earned distinction on the executive board for Pratham Dallas-Fort Worth since 2013. Pratham is notably a large, non-governmental organization in India that provides education to the children living in the poorest areas of the country. To better support his professional endeavors, Dr. Bhayani has been engaged as a member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Texas Indian Physicians Society and the academic affairs subcommittee of the American Medical Association of Illinois. He is also a fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the Infectious Disease Society of America.

Dr. Bhayani received a Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of Utah in 1998 and a Doctor of Medicine at Ross University in 2003. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include a residency at the Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago and an infectious disease fellowship at the University of Illinois. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Bhayani is a licensed physician in Illinois, Texas and Illinois and is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Bhayani received a Cash Award by the Indian American Association for a presentation that he delivered at a 2001 annual Illinois academic forum meeting. Other honors to his credit have included a Recognition Award for mentoring students and for developing a rapid HIV testing protocol at the University of Illinois from the Illinois Math and Sciences Academy in 2008, as well as a Physician of the Year Award from the Texas Health Arlington Memorial in 2016. Dr. Bhayani has also consistently been named to Top Doctors of Greater Fort Worth by Texas Magazine every year since 2012 and a Top Doctor of Tarrant County by 360 West Magazine for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
