An accomplished listee, Dr. Leahy celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Having earned distinction as a writer, educational philosophy and consultant, Dr. Leahy has served as the founder and director of Authentic Educating since 2008. In 1968, he began keeping a personal journal, now at volume 116, a practice that encouraged him to begin teaching and writing fiction. Dr. Leahy graduated from Cortland College with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1969 and began teaching science at Nesaquake Junior High School the same year, spending the 1971 to 1972 academic year teaching chemistry at Maple Hill High School before deciding to continue his own education.

In 1974, after two years as a graduate assistant, Dr. Leahy completed a Master of Education in counseling at the University of Vermont. He briefly worked as a research assistant at Cornell University before serving as a philosophy instructor at the University of Tampa between 1979 and 1985. Following this appointment, Dr. Leahy earned a Doctor of Philosophy at Cornell University in 1986 before accepting a position at Wayne State University.

Dr. Leahy was named as an associate professor of education, as well as the chairperson of the department of education, at Stetson University in 1989, where he would continue to build his career until his retirement in 2012. Since 2008, he has maintained involvement as the director of Authentic Educating & Renaissance Bob LLC, an educational consulting firm designed to provide strategies and assessment to enhance every grade level and content area.

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Leahy has contributed extensively to professional journals and has been active in the American Educational Studies Association, the American Education Research Association, the John Dewey Society and the Philosophy of Education Society, among others. He is the author of a dozen published novels, including "Authentic Educating," and "Roof Over Love and Lust," "The Feathered Serpent Pearls Necklace" and "Just Do Me & Die!" Likewise, Dr. Leahy received a motion picture offer from Orion Films for his 1981 novel "The Final Season."
