Morris, King & Hodge Announces Winners of 7th Annual Driver Safety Scholarship Contest

The law firm awarded a total of $4,200 in scholarship money to three Alabama high school seniors whose essays explored the problem of texting and driving.

    HUNTSVILLE, AL, April 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Morris, King & Hodge P.C. is pleased to announce the three winners of the law firm's 2021 Driver Safety Scholarship competition.

Starting in 2015, Morris, King & Hodge, P.C. has sponsored an annual scholarship program to spotlight the serious problem of distracted driving and explore ways to reduce the hazardous habit among drivers. The firm awards three scholarships totaling $4,200 to seniors who plan to attend college after graduating from Alabama high schools.

To enter the competition, students wrote and submitted original essays on this topic: "How can we educate our community about the dangers of distracted driving and what are some practical ways we can drastically reduce distracted driving related accidents?"

Morris, King & Hodge, P.C. selected three winning essays for the Driver Safety Scholarships.

The three scholarship winners for 2021 are:

First Place ($2,000) — Wyatt Earth Millwood, a senior at Austin High School in Decatur, who plans to attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville to pursue a career in Criminal Law.

Second Place ($1,200) — Makenzie Friend, a senior at Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville, who plans to attend Mercer University to pursue a career as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. Makenzie intends to focus her career on helping reduce the death rate for African-American women during pregnancy.

Third Place ($1,000) — Amelia Brodowski, a senior at Whitesburg Christian Academy in Huntsville, who plans to attend Auburn University to pursue a degree in Journalism.
