Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling Celebrates 30 Years of Service

Olympia, WA-based nonprofit celebrates 30 years of providing outreach and awareness, professional development training for counselors, and referral and access to free and low-cost treatment



ECPG has developed programs and services providing awareness, support, prevention, and education for anyone interested in or impacted by Gambling Disorder issues

    OLYMPIA, WA, May 07, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling (ECPG) has been the Washington State affiliate of the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) since 1991. Under the strong leadership provided by Maureen Greeley, Executive Director for 15 years, and a committed and diverse Board of Directors, ECPG has grown from a one-person operation to a modest team of four employees. Each year ECPG has grown to oversee an ever-expanding list of programs and services offered in Washington state.

Problem Gambling and Gaming Programs and Services

ECPG has developed programs and services providing awareness, support, prevention, and education for anyone interested in or impacted by Gambling Disorder issues and across the entire continuum of care. Just a few of the ECPG's major priorities are to support treatment services, provide quality training opportunities for counselors, peer/recovery coaches, community organizations, and colleges/universities, and promote awareness of problem gambling help and hope. ECPG supports services for those seeking help for gambling-related health and wellness issues and for their loved ones by providing funding to reimburse treatment expenses for both outpatient and residential gambling treatment services. ECPG also provides quality training on topics such as gambling, problem gambling, Gambling Disorder, and responsible gambling, gaming and Gaming Disorder, cultural awareness and social justice, prevention, public health, co-occurring disorders, law and ethics, and more with Continuing Education (CE) accreditation. ECPG promotes awareness of problem gambling and cultural impacts through a podcast, live-streaming events on social media, YouTube videos, blogs, and more.

The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is a nonprofit organization committed to providing services and programs for individuals, families, employers, students, treatment professionals, and the greater community through problem gambling treatment support, information and education, advocacy, research, and prevention efforts. Founded in 1991, ECPG maintains a position of neutrality on gambling, recognizing that most people who gamble do so for recreation and suffer no serious problems. However, for some, gambling becomes a serious addiction, devastating to the individual and family.
