Pereira, a lifelong resident of eastern Connecticut, has been included in Marquis Who's Who for exemplary work in STEM education and career readiness as a teacher turned entrepreneur. Having been interested in animal welfare from a young age, Mrs. Pereira desired a career as a veterinarian and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut in Storrs in 2010 and a Master of Science in Secondary Education, with teaching certifications in biology and agricultural education from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic in 2012. She pursued science education as a career, delivering exemplary instruction from preschool to graduate level University courses. For the past 13 years, Mrs. Pereira has worked to engage students in their future across the education spectrum; as a high school science teacher at Connecticut River Academy in East Hartford, an educational research associate, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum developer, and an adjunct Professor of Science Education at Eastern Connecticut State University.
In 2012 Mrs. Pereira founded a small business to address the acute and ongoing shortage of skilled STEM workers. "Now more than ever our nation needs innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I am on a mission to help every teen discover STEM and unleash their talents to change the world." asserts Pereira. Through proven and innovative digital resources including the Explorer system (a subscription service purchased by universities working with middle students), and an online STEM "Bootcamp" program, Mrs. Pereira collaborates with community-based providers, stakeholders, colleges, STEM employers, and educators to help middle school age students take the first steps in their STEM career exploration journey.
Mrs. Pereira has accrued several honors during her varied and diverse career including finalist as a Cool Tool Award in Career Planning from EdTech Digest in 2018.
