William Ronald YaDeau, DMus, Celebrated for Dedication to the Fields of Education and Music

Dr. YaDeau retired from his role as an associate professor of music in 2013

DECATUR, IL, June 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- William Ronald YaDeau ("Ron"), has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Amassing nearly 40 years in academia, Dr. YaDeau taught piano instruction and music theory to beginner and advanced students at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, for most of his career. Employed 1978-79 and 1980-2013 as Associate Professor of Music after four years at Eastern Oregon University, he is well known for his passion for the field. In addition to his many responsibilities on campus, Dr. YaDeau also conducted private piano lessons in his spare time. He also served on Millikin's Council on Students and Academic Standards, Council on Curriculum and Council on Faculty. He officially retired from education in 2013.

Dr. YaDeau presented many piano recitals and lecture-demonstrations throughout the Midwest and in Slovakia and Belarus. He and his wife Lois YaDeau (of the Millikin University voice faculty) were the first artists sent to Slovakia under the auspices of the Cleveland-Bratislava Sister Cities Association.

Dr. YaDeau has actively researched the music of Belarusian composer Petr Petrovich Podkovyrov, who wrote much for piano and also piano and other instruments. He has found Podkovyrov's music very attractive and hopes to continue exploring and presenting music by this composer.

Dr. YaDeau's degrees include the Bachelor of Music (1968) from Baldwin-Wallace College (now BWU), the Master of Music (1969) and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1980).

Dr. YaDeau also served on the Board of Directors of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's Central Illinois District (CID), and as a delegate to district and synodical conventions. He was also general editor of CID's Theses on Lutheran Worship. Presently he serves on the Commission governing the United Lutheran Mission Association, and is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Walther Theological Seminary.

A prominent member of several music industry-related organizations, Dr. YaDeau has been affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association for 47 years. He was President of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association and a member of the Board of Directors of Music Teachers National Association and the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. He was also a member of the College Music Society. In 2003 he was named a Foundation Fellow of the Music Teachers National Association.
